🐶 Ralph’s Pawspective
This place feels like you’ve climbed into the clouds.
Lots of open space to walk around, plenty of interesting smells carried on the mountain air, and enough paths and gardens to keep a curious pup entertained.
The grass and paved areas make it easy on the paws, and there’s lots to see—even if you’re not tall enou gh to fully appreciate the views (tragic, I know). They also had waterbowls near the cafe, so an extra paws from me! The mountain air is fresh, the paths are paws-friendly, and there’s plenty to see for pups of all shapes and sizes.
It can get busy, especially when the weather’s good, so there are moments where it’s more about polite walking than full sniff-and-explore mode. Still, it’s a great stop for stretching the legs, enjoying cooler temperatures, and tagging along while hoomans soak up the scenery.

SkyHigh is impressively maintained, with clear pathways and well-kept gardens that make navigating easy—even with pups in tow. The cooler climate and high vantage point mean you get top-notch views without the chaos of the city.
Dogs are welcome outdoors (on lead), but it can get busy, so plan for polite walking and observation. This is a spot where calm assessment pays off—crowds can be overwhelming, but there’s plenty of space to strategically pick a spot and enjoy the scenery.

Initial investigation confirms strong smells across the gardens and paths—flowers, earth, and a few mysterious human snacks. I got distracted several times following scent trails, but each corner offered something new to inspect.
Crowds noted and avoided where possible. Air quality excellent, plenty of sniff-friendly zones, and a high vantage point that makes for excellent scent surveillance. Would recommend early-morning patrols for minimal human interference.

SkyHigh Mount Dandenong is one of those classic Melbourne experiences that actually lives up to the hype. Sitting high above the city, the lookout delivers sweeping views across Melbourne, Port Phillip Bay, and beyond—especially impressive on a clear day.
The surrounding gardens are beautifully maintained and make for a relaxed stroll, whether you’re visiting as a destination or adding it to a Dandenongs day trip.
There’s an on-site café and bistro, making it easy to turn the visit into a longer stop, though peak times can mean crowds and queues.
