Tips and Tricks (aka Pet Pawtocols)
At Ruff Ruff Reviews, we love exploring dog-friendly spots, but we also know that a great café or travel experience with your furry friend takes a little planning.
Here are our top tips to make every outing smooth, safe, and fun!
Café and Restaurant Tips
🐾 Check Before You Go – Not all “dog-friendly” places are created equal! Some allow dogs only in certain areas, so it’s always good to check ahead.
🐾 Pick the Right Spot – Choose an outdoor table with enough space for your pup to settle comfortably. Avoid tight spaces where they might feel cramped.
🐾 Bring the Essentials – Pack a portable water bowl, a lead, and some treats to keep your pup happy. Some places provide water bowls, but it’s always good to be prepared.
🐾 Mind the Lead – Not all cafés have spots to secure a leash, so bring a portable clip or keep your pup’s leash in hand to avoid any sudden zoomies!
🐾 Respect Other Guests – Not everyone loves dogs (we know, crazy right?!). Keep your pup calm and close, and avoid letting them wander into other people’s spaces.
🐾 Know Your Dog’s Limits – If your pup gets anxious in busy spaces, try quieter times to help them get used to the experience.
🐾 Puppacinos? Yes, but… – If a café offers puppacinos, double-check ingredients to make sure they’re safe for your pup (no added sugar or dairy if they have a sensitive tummy!).
🐾 Clean Up After Your Pup – Accidents happen! Be prepared with doggy bags, and keep your area tidy.
Travelling Tips
🐶 Plan Pet-Friendly Stops – If you’re heading on a road trip, research dog-friendly parks, rest areas, and cafés along the way to break up the journey.
🐶 Secure Your Pup – Use a dog seatbelt, crate, or pet booster seat to keep them safe in the car. No free-range zoomies in moving vehicles!
🐶 Hydration & Snacks – Always pack water and some treats to keep your pup happy and hydrated on the go.
🐶 Check the Weather – Hot pavement? Freezing cold? Make sure conditions are comfortable for your pup before heading out.
🐶 Practice Makes Perfect – If your pup isn’t used to car rides or new environments, start with short trips to get them comfortable before longer adventures.
🐶 Know the Rules – Some places require leashes at all times, while others allow off-leash play. Always check local regulations to avoid any surprises.
🐶 Emergency Prep – Save the contact details of local vets in case of emergencies when traveling to new areas.
A little planning goes a long way in making outings fun for both hooman and pup!
