🐶 Ralph’s Pawspective
Catani Gardens is a fun place to wander through, especially when you’ve been padding around St Kilda and need a break.
Plenty of open space to sniff, stretch the legs, and take in all the new smells drifting over from the bay. I’ve heard this park can get very exciting when events roll through—with crowds, music, and lots of activity—but on the day we visited, it was much quieter.
There were a few seagulls hanging about (obviously), keeping things interesting without causing too much drama.
It’s not a destination park with lots of dog-specific features, but it’s a solid stop for a casual walk, a rest on the grass, or a quick pause while exploring the foreshore.
Sometimes you don’t need bells and whistles—just space to wander and a nice breeze off the water.

👤 Human Highlights
Catani Gardens is a large, open green space in St Kilda, making it an easy and convenient stroll if you’re heading toward St Kilda Pier or moving along the broader St Kilda foreshore. Its size makes it ideal for major events and festivals, and when those are on, the park really comes alive.
On quieter days, it’s a pleasant thoroughfare rather than a destination in itself.
The proximity to the main road means there’s always some traffic noise, but the openness and coastal setting balance that out nicely. It’s well-positioned for linking walks—whether you’re heading from the beach toward the pier, cafes, or other St Kilda landmarks—and works well as part of a longer bayside wander.
Dogs are welcome (on lead), and there’s plenty of room for a relaxed stroll without feeling crowded.

Pro Tip
Unless its an event day, use Catani Park as a connector—pair it with a beach walk or pier visit rather than treating it as a standalone stop.
