🐶 Ralph’s Pawspective
This place was grape! 🍇
As soon as I jumped out of the car, I could smell the vineyard vibes in the air. I got to wander around the vines, pretending I was a Sommelier of Sniffs 🐽 .
There was a wallaby that bounced past and instinct kicked in and I whined right after it – don’t worry, no wildlife was harmed, just my dignity when my hooman grabbed my lead shouted my full name in public and halted me in my tracks! 🙄

Then – get this – there was a wedding happening by the lake! I wanted to join in, maybe walk the bride down the aisle or add a paw of approval to the photos or white wedding dress, but apparently that’s frowned upon when you’re not on the guest list. Rude. 🍾
There were big open spaces, shady spots to chill while the hoomans sipped their fancy drinks, and even water bowls just for me.
The smells? Un-corked levels of sniffing delight. The staff gave me a little pat and said I was a “distinguished gentleman” – I rosé to the occasion, obviously.
Would wine and wag again.

👤 Human Highlights
Ocean View Estates offers a stunning hinterland escape just a short drive from Brisbane, and it truly shines as a spot for a leisurely long lunch. Nestled amongst lush vines and rolling hills, the estate boasts a beautiful view that pairs perfectly with a crisp glass of white or a bold red.
We trialed one of the wine tasting board , the Flight of Sweet – highly recommended if you have a sweet tooth. It was thoughtfully curated, showcasing the estate’s winemaking craft. Each wine had a distinct character, and tasting them alongside our lunch was a great way to sample the range without committing to a full glass. The 2023 Unwound White Diamonds, with hints of lychee was our favourite.

Lunch was tasty – expect winery prices and fancy names for simple fare, but the portions were generous. That said, we felt that the presentation didn’t quite live up to the elegance of the setting. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable about the wines, and happy to accommodate outdoor seating with the pups. The outdoor area was shaded and offered lovely views of the lake and surrounding vines.
We visited on a weekend and happened to catch a wedding taking place on the grounds. It added a charming buzz to the atmosphere (Ralph wanted to join the bridal party – thankfully we intercepted him!).

The venue is pet-friendly, with dogs allowed in the outdoor dining area and vineyard. While the indoor dining is understandably pet-free, the alfresco seating more than made up for it with the ambiance and outlook.
If you’re in the area or looking for a scenic road trip destination, Ocean View Estates delivers on food, wine, and a relaxed countryside feel. Bring your dog, a designated driver, and your appetite for both wine and wanderlust.
Pro Tip
If you’re planning to visit, consider booking in advance, especially on weekends, to secure a spot in this popular destination. And don’t forget to bring a leash for your pup to explore the vineyards safely.
