Whales! 🐋 That’s right—whales splashing and playing in the ocean right in front of our very eyes. I was ready to bound into the waves and say “hellooooooo!” to my majestic new friends, but alas… the hoomans weren’t quite as enthusiastic about a whale-sized game of fetch.

The foreshore was bustling, with lots of people and pups out enjoying the day. Perfect for a little people-watching, dog-watching, and of course, whale-watching. Even if I couldn’t meet the whales, there was still plenty to sniff, explore, and supervise from the safety of the sand.

It’s energetic, lively, and full of scents, sights, and excitement—a real doggo paradise for those who enjoy a bit of action while on their walk.

👤 Human Highlights

Byron Bay is the kind of coastal town that has to be on any roadtrip map. From the stunning views to the clean, inviting water, it’s easy to see why it draws such a wide mix of visitors—from backpackers to socialites. There’s a friendly, vibrant atmosphere and a sense that the town really has it all.

That said, practicalities are worth keeping in mind. Parking can be tricky, so you might need to enjoy a little walk from your car to reach the foreshore. During the heat of the day, footpaths can get hot, so watch those paws. Crowds are common, so finding a quieter time makes for a much more relaxed visit.

Despite the minor inconveniences, the foreshore is a lovely place to stretch your legs with your pup, take in the ocean air, and maybe even spot some whales if you’re lucky. A quintessential Byron Bay experience.

Pro-Tip

Go early in the morning or later in the afternoon to avoid crowds and hot footpaths—perfect for a dog-friendly foreshore stroll and some whale spotting!
