🐶 Ralph’s Pawspective
I arrived at Shark Bay with high hopes of making some new fin-tastic friends. Maybe a playful pup or two, perhaps a seagull willing to discuss snack-sharing arrangements. But alas… on our visit, the only thing lurking around was the possibility of sharky sharks out in the water.
Now don’t get me wrong—I’m a brave doggo. But even I draw the line at swimming with creatures that have more teeth than a chew-toy factory. So Luna and I stayed safely on our leads while the hoomans took us for a wander along the shoreline.
Even without a dip, there was plenty to enjoy. The ocean breeze carried all sorts of fascinating scents. Every gust of wind delivered a new salty sniff—fishy notes, seaweed undertones, and the occasional mysterious “something-that-used-to-be-a-sandwich” buried somewhere in the sand.
The views were pawsitively jaw-some. Waves rolling in, seabirds circling above, and plenty of space for a relaxing stroll with my hoomans. I kept a close eye on the water just in case a fin popped up… purely for scientific research, of course.
While I didn’t make any new dog friends this time, Shark Bay still made quite a splash as a scenic stop. And who knows—maybe next visit the only things swimming around will be friendly fish instead of those sneaky sharky sharks.

👤 Human Highlights
Shark Bay in Evans Head is a beautiful little coastal picnic spot that’s well worth a stop, especially if you’re travelling with a dog.
The area offers a relaxed setting with grassy areas, picnic facilities, and easy access down to the water. It’s a great place to pause for a break, stretch the legs, and enjoy some ocean views.
Dogs are welcome here, but they must remain on lead, which is important given the wildlife and coastal environment. Even so, it’s still a pleasant place for a walk along the shoreline and a chance for pups to enjoy the sea air.
One thing to note is that the beach is not patrolled, so swimmers should exercise caution before entering the water. Conditions can change quickly, and the name “Shark Bay” isn’t purely decorative—this stretch of coastline is part of a natural marine environment.
That said, as a picnic and sightseeing spot, it’s excellent. The views across the water are stunning, and it’s a peaceful location to sit for a while and soak in the coastal atmosphere.
If you’re travelling through Evans Head with your dog, Shark Bay is definitely worth dropping anchor for a quick stop.

Pro-Tip
Keep your pup on lead and enjoy the picnic area—but think twice before taking a dip in unpatrolled waters. 🦈🐕
