🐶 Ralph’s Pawspective

Monto had me pawsitively wagging with excitement!

Our first stop was the main street, where I spotted several colourful cow statues. I gave a few of them a solid bark—gotta make sure the herd knows who’s boss. Turns out, they’re part of a public art trail. Pretty neat, even if they don’t smell like real cows.

After my patrol, we stopped for brunch where I was my usual charming self under the table (Luna tried to beg for bacon—rookie move). Bellies full, we made our way to the Monto Historical & Cultural Centre where I got to climb on vintage wagons, sniff out an old train, and pretend I was heading off to the goldfields.

Then came the Bunyip statue. Now, look, I’ve seen some strange things in my two years of tail-wagging life, but this guy? Weird. I sniffed it, side-eyed it, and decided it was either a bin with attitude or a monster on holiday.

Finally, we wrapped things up at the Three Moon Silos. Huge, colourful, and pawfect for photos. I gave my best model pose while Luna photobombed me. Again. Sibling problems.

👤 Human Highlights

Monto delivered a relaxed and quirky day out. The main street has that classic small-town charm, with some surprisingly creative touches—like the fibreglass dairy cows dotted around town as part of the “Colourful Cow Trail.” Great fun for all ages (especially if your dog thinks they’re real).

After a casual brunch (with generous country-style portions), we explored the Monto Historical & Cultural Centre. There’s a treasure trove of machinery and memorabilia, and while pups can’t go inside the buildings, they’re welcome to explore the well-maintained grounds. The team there were lovely and happy to see dogs enjoying the history.

The Bunyip statue was… interesting. Not the star of the show, but quirky enough to be worth a two-minute stop and a confused selfie.

The standout, though, was the Three Moon Silos. The murals are simply stunning—bright, bold, and beautifully done. A perfect way to wrap up the visit and soak in some local art.
