🐶 Ralph’s Pawspective
Lifesavers are legends! and so are their pups! Even though they weren’t on duty the day we visited, this place still felt like a big, exciting adventure zone.
I strutted around the surf club grounds like I belonged there, especially when my hooman took my photo with some very impressive bird statues (I checked—they don’t move, sadly).
But the real stars? The black swans. So many of them. Elegant, mysterious, and absolutely worth staring at very intensely. I wanted to say hello, but apparently that’s why leashes exist. Rude, but fair.
Then came the surf side beach… ohhh yes. The wind picked up and blasted straight through my ears—pure joy. Maximum flappage.
Add in salty air, endless sniffs in the sand, and that wild ocean soundtrack, and you’ve got one very happy dog. There’s so much to explore around the club and nearby paths that I had to keep stopping every few steps for “important investigations.” I could’ve stayed all day.

👤 Human Highlights
The Lakes Entrance Surf Life Saving Club sits right on the surf side of town and offers excellent access to the main surf beach. At the base of the club, you’ll find a small café that’s ideal for grabbing a coffee or light refreshment after a walk—simple, convenient, and perfectly placed.
The area has a relaxed coastal atmosphere, with sweeping beach views and frequent wildlife sightings, particularly black swans. If you’re walking with a dog, it’s best to keep them on a lead due to the wildlife and open layout.
The beach itself is scenic but can be quite rough at times. This isn’t a gentle paddle spot, so swimmers should only enter the water if confident and always swim between the flags when patrols are operating. Even if you’re staying dry, the shoreline is a great place to stroll, watch the waves, and soak up that unmistakable surf coast energy.
Whether you’re stopping in for a casual coffee, taking photos, or using it as a gateway to the surf beach, the surf club area is a great addition to any Lakes Entrance walk. Oh, make sure you check out the signs, as dogs are only allowed in some areas at different times of the year.

Pro Tip
Keep your pup on a lead near the swans, and only swim between the flags—conditions can change quickly here.
