OFF-LEASH PARK?!

Yes please. Immediately yes.

When we arrived at Elizabeth Gardens and I realised it was off-leash, I put on my most trustworthy face. Calm. Composed. Definitely responsible. Lead unclipped… freedom achieved.

For approximately three glorious minutes.

To be fair, those were an exceptional three minutes. I executed a quality perimeter lap, conducted rapid scent analysis, and began what could have been a legendary zoomie sequence. The grass was calling. The wind was in my ears. I was thriving.

Then I heard it.

“Ralph…?”

Not the happy voice. The slightly higher-pitched, mildly concerned voice. You know the one. The “he looks like he’s thinking about not coming back” voice.

Now, I was going to come back. Eventually. After completing a few very important investigations. But the hoomans, perhaps lacking full confidence in my timeline, decided the adventure was best continued on-leash.

Click. Back to supervised exploration.

Honestly? Still a great park. Plenty to sniff. Lots of space. Other dogs enjoying their off-leash moment of glory. And I got a taste of freedom — just enough to fuel my motivation for future recall excellence.

Elizabeth Gardens has big energy and wide open space. Just make sure your hooman trusts you… or that you give them absolutely no reason not to.

👤 Human Highlights

Elizabeth Gardens provides a generous off-leash space in Lismore that allows dogs to properly burn off energy. The open grassy layout makes it ideal for running, socialising, and giving high-energy dogs the freedom they crave.

However, the key word here is off-leash. This space works best if your dog has reliable recall. With open areas and plenty of distractions, you’ll want to feel confident that your pup will return when called.

The park itself is pleasant and relaxed, with trees and pathways adding to the atmosphere. It’s a straightforward, open setting that does exactly what an off-leash area should: provide space for movement and exploration.

For owners comfortable with their dog’s responsiveness, it’s a great local option to let them stretch their legs properly.
