Dog-Friendly Park Review – Pup-approved Summary

Dicky Beach Park is a solid place for pups and their hoomans. Plenty of space to spreadout, beautiful views and a relaxed vibe, provided your pup remains on a leash.

🐶 Ralph’s Pawspective

Alright, hoomans, let’s talk about Dicky Beach Park!

I had high hopes—grass to roll in, sniffs to sniff, and potential puppacino pit stops nearby. But while it had some good bits, I wouldn’t say it’s my ultimate zoomies destination.

✔️ The Good: Plenty of shade, which is great for a sun-loving pup like me (but also means no overheating—win!). There’s heaps of space to sniff and explore, plus some picnic tables and a skate park where hoomans can sit and chat while I supervise. Also, it’s super close to cafés, so the chances of scoring a sneaky snack are high.

The Not-So-Good: Not a designated off-leash area—so no full-speed zoomies. And while it’s near the beach, dogs aren’t allowed on the sand here, which means no salty splashes for me. Tail = slightly droopy.

🐕 Best for: Relaxed on-leash walks, casual hooman hangouts, and sniffing all the new smells.

👤 Hooman Highlights

Dicky Beach Park is a nice little spot for a leashed stroll, conveniently close to cafes and the beach. The big trees provide great shade, and the picnic tables make it a good place to stop and enjoy the fresh air. Toilets and water fountains are nearby, which is always a plus.

However, since dogs can’t go on the beach itself, it’s a bit of a tease—so if your pup is a water lover, they might not be thrilled. It’s a great spot for a quick break, but not necessarily a destination for a big adventure.

Would I bring Ralph here again? Maybe, but only if we were passing through. For a better adventure, I’d pick a proper off-leash or beach-friendly spot. 🐶🐾

Pro Tip:

Grab a takeaway coffee from one of the nearby cafés (we suggest The Giggling Goat) and enjoy a relaxed sit in the shade—your pup will love the sniffing opportunities while you sip!
