Off-leash beach? Say no more – I’m in!
Beach 199 and 200 is pure tail-wagging freedom with sand to dig, waves to chase, and plenty of pupper pals to race along the shoreline.
I even sniffed my way up to the lookout (on-leash of course when I was off the beach) for some pawsome views and salty breezes that really ruffle the ears – dramatic movie moment achieved.
This place is paradise for energetic pups like me – whether you’re zooming through the surf or just soaking up the sun.
Just keep an eye on those signs, because some parts aren’t for four-legged adventurers like me. No one wants a ruff run-in with the ranger!

👤 Human Highlights
Beach 199 and 200 is a local gem for dog lovers – an off-leash stretch of golden sand at the base of the iconic Point Cartwright Lookout. The views from the top are spectacular (especially during sunrise or whale season), and the beach below is perfect for active pups and ocean-loving owners.
⚠️ Heads up:
- Not all sections here are dog-friendly, so check signage before letting pups roam.
- Parking near the lookout can get tight, especially on weekends.
- If you’re coming from the top, be ready for a decent set of stairs down to the sand.
Perfect spot for a beach day with your furry best friend – just pack water, a towel, and maybe a tennis ball or two.

Pro Tip
Bring plenty of fresh water – saltwater zoomies are thirsty work!
